Paleo Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

I don’t know where tres leches (three milks) cake came from but it’s very popular in several Latin American countries. It’s basically a sponge cake soaked in a mix of evaporated milk, condensed mil. And the dessert I ordered most, hands down, was tres leches cake. If you’re not familiar, it’s typically a spongey vanilla cake which is soaked in a milk glaze and topped with whipped cream. There are not 3 milks in this cake. There is one. So the name is totally deceiving. Sorry. But its an incredibly delicious paleo cake. The cake will look dry when it comes out of the oven.

3/4 C coconut milk, 3/4 C coconut cream, 1 C almond milk, ground cinnamon. T has been reading a bit about Tres Leches cake lately in our many food related medias and it sparked a curiosity to be made. It just looked and sounded delicious so we had to find out. It was time to start pouring the milk mixture into the cake. Paleo Newbie. 2 cups organic heavy whipping cream (Or whipped coconut cream for dairy free option). This Tres Leches Cake recipe, soaked with a milky mixture laced with dark rum and coconut milk, is one of our most popular recipes. We’ve tested it at several parties and have yet to take home anything but an empty baking dish and a whole bunch of recipe requests. Just made the tres leche cake!
