I fried the bread with a tiny bit of bacon drippings, which added a tremendous amount of flavor! I filled mine with black beans, tomatoes and avocado (lightly salted) and my husband and I are sitting back with smiles and full bellies – HEALTHY full bellies. Flip the fry bread over and flatten it with the back of the spatula. Allow the bread to cook an additional 2 minutes or so till nicely browned on both sides and cooked through.

Frybread (also spelled fry bread) is a flat dough fried or deep-fried in oil, shortening, or lard. The dough is generally leavened by soured milk, baking powder or yeast (rarely). Oh yeah, I love a fried egg sandwich on the bread, with a little of my homemade caveman ketchup! I made these today and they were a disaster, stuck to the pan, burned bits, folded over on itself, thick bits, thin bits, slightly scorched where I put the frying pan under the grill to firm them up enough to scrap off the bottom of the pan bits, ….
