When I married into the family, I became privy to Nonna’s (my husband’s grandmother) pasta sauce recipe that uses pre-canned tomato sauce and diced tomatoes (that she probably canned herself). We love marinara so I had to come up with a better, quick alternative! Now, nothing is better than home-made sauce with fresh tomatoes, but not everyone has the time to make it! This is what we do….

Otherwise-awesome sauce! My non-paleo kids ate it with pasta and I had it over spaghetti squash. This is my go-to marinara sauce recipe. I use it for all things Italian, and love to have it on hand to drizzle over zucchini ribbons with some Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs when I need a quick lunch or dinner. I use Pomi tomatoes, but you can also roast Roma tomatoes in the oven and then remove their skins and puree them in a food processor.
