Paleo Week and Spaghetti with Spicy Meatballs. What a creative use of applesauce…I would have never thought of that. My kids hate applesauce. I don’t really know why that is because they both love apples. Come to think of it I don’t eat a lot of applesauce myself, but I do use it in other recipes.
Apple Cider-Glazed Turkey Meatballs meatballs: 1 lb. ground turkey 3 minced garlic cloves 1 tbs. unsweetened cinnamon applesauce 1 minced shallot 1/3 cup almond meal 1/3 cup shredded apple 1/2 tsp.
For the applesauce to serve the meatloaf with, you could make your own Paleo-friendly version or look for a kind in stores that’s just apples with no unnecessary junk added in. This week I give you a flavorful, moist Paleo turkey meatball and sauce to put on top. You can also use applesauce as an egg-replacer if you are egg-free (the flavors of the sauce, etc overpower any apple-y taste). These meatballs were easy enough to have on the go, and along with my Banana Protein Bread Muffins, made for the best snack before we got to Key Largo, where we spent much of our time! : ). You can also use store bought applesauce, but the taste will be much richer and more prominent if you make your own.
